What i find odd is that the speedtest app and the udmp default to different servers.
Basically what the title says, i'm wondering how bad/important or even how accurate ooklas speed test is for the download and upload latency
I'm on wired and get about 400mb down and 50mb up I'm not having any real issues that. When did speedtest.net start enforcing adblock? New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast.
Websites take far longer than usual to load up (about 10 seconds just to load up facebook), however when i run a speedtest on speedtest.net, it says my ping is 10, download 850mbps, and upload 50 mbps My pc is very solid too, 3080ti gpu, 11700k cpu, 64gb ram, etc. Maybe speedtest was just overloaded at the time, or the unique pathway to it was congested, or they are capping free tests or whatever And fast.com was not busy, or closer to you, or whatever
Like all tests, the bigger and more varied the sample size, the closer you'll get to your true results.
Dashboard throughput, click run and wait This measures the throughput to the meraki dashboard and is normally relatively accurate. Just tried an ap and it showed 367.4 mbit on a 500mbit link. Mx showed around the same
I generally use iperf to do local testing to make sure things are working correctly on my end and then use the speedtest.net cli to test out to the internet I usually manually set the test server to be one hosted by my isp since it’s testing the shortest path and there’s not much you can do about how your isps interconnects to other networks tbh Using the one closest is the closest you. The problem is the non official implementation of speedtest cli on freebsd
If you use the official speedtest cli from speedtest.net you get much better results
I also build a widget so you can trigger a test on the pfsense dashboard with a button, and if you just go to the dashboard see the result and test date/time of the last executed test. I've done ookla speed tests before, and they usually are just about 50 mb (0.05 gb) Today i noticed i lost 5g when i went into a big building so i did a test, and later in the parking lot ran the same test Both tests ran quickly on my galaxy s21, no issues

Which internet speed test is trusted and why is there such a variance between them I used ookla, fast.com, and google’s internet speed test which gave me the corresponding 160mbps, 250mbps, and 580 mbps
