Ppl who say salo horrifying & disturbing are 100% correct I have a strong stomach but this is quite literally the only film that has made me come close to vomiting But they need the historical and cultural context

While salo had a truly cinematic and artistic approach to the way they told the story and the horrors they were willing to show
The graphic nature of the film comes from the massive balls pasolini had in not being afraid to make the most powerful and everlasting film on the fascism he thought was destroying humanity through an inherent evil. Salo is his depiction of that corruption and disregard for life or dignity with no real punishment for those that committed the crimes It’s not something you should watch lightly I’m not kidding when i say it’s rough But it’s genuinely incredible art
And the criterion drop comes with some incredible supplemental material
Salo is a legitimately great movie from an excellent director If you can stomach that, the rest of the movie is worth watching imo Serbian film is definitely skippable though. The complete story of marquis de sade from where salo come from 'les 120 journees de sodome' its by far a lot more disturbing that a serbian film, i don't have watched salo but i guess only covers the first fourth of the unfinished book with the most lighter things, so i understand that someone could find a serbian film more disturbing.
I'm looking for disturbing and challenging movies like Martyrs, salo (120 days of sodom), the angels' melancholia (or other marian dora movies), high tension, irreversible, the loved ones, and so on. I am from ukraine and i eat it every day I usually just slice it thin on the pan and fry it
Then take it out and use the rendered fat for as cooking oil for the steak
Sometimes after i am done cooking steak, i fry a few eggs in the same fat At the end i pure the remaining fat on my stake so nothing is lost! I was horrified and disgusted at what i saw
