Ring traps are cheaper but if you go with the cotton ones like i do, you will problably want new ones every year as the salt water destroys them I personally think the rings are more enjoyable I do keep a box trap or two around for the littlest one since he needs to take his time pulling it up If you're going with the box traps, go topless.
