Bringing together 245 member organisations from 149 countries on five continents, the federation is the governing body for world motor sport and the federation of the world’s leading mobility organisations.
In 1950, the federation inaugurated the formula one world championship and thus began the fia's evolution into a global motor sports force. The fia has a clear structure with its duties separated into reviewing, enacting and enforcing sporting rules, promoting accessible, sustainable and safe mobility for all, taking executive decisions and resolving disputes.
