Just because a game has 2k daily users doesn’t mean they are in your region
As an australian gamer i’m always cautious of multiplayer tittles for this very reason
Some games with lower player bases people claim it’s not a dead game but they don’t factor in smaller regions. Why do you think steam numbers are down nearly 40% since launch What makes you believe that there isn't a similar percentage drop on other platforms? But how many people play from frontier and steam and all other sources combined

Steamcharts / steam db don't do the count themselves, they get the data directly from steam via the web api, and yes steam counts all players accross all regions. While i am not sure about the overall accuracy of the numbers on steam charts the steam charts peak numbers vs steam review numbers do not necessarily have to contradict each other
By that i mean its entirely possible that a game, especially that is a few years old now, has had thousands of unique players try and play it of which a certain number of them left reviews but then never had more.
What happened to steam charts The graphs are not as detailed as before for example if i go to halo mcc page and select all, the graph is accurate only starting with june 2020, the data before shows only monthly average It is same for other games, it used to show daily values throughout the whole graph. I downloaded destiny 2 daily peak concurrent player data from steamdb and created some basic charts and tables comparing seasons by their place within the expansion year
Feel free to make a copy and do whatever data analysis you want, the source data is in the data sheet. Steam charts only counts players using steam
