I know that the closing temp is irrelevant because i've done this with success for over 20 years I live in pa and close in mid october (reopen april 1) Just open early and close when it is convenient and makes sense for you.

We are closing pool in early september
It’s going to be green for sure when we open it but have no choice.
I put my cover on in early to mid september due to a large amount of trees near the pool, but don't actually close/winterize the pool at that time I bring the pool up to shock level before putting the cover on and recheck the chemistry every couple of weeks and adjust as needed. This year, because of the need for the early close, i am leaning towards using the commercial phosphate remover the week before closing , following tfp closing protocol , then opening early I will report back in spring
Once again, thanks to everyone for reading and helping. 1) when closing the pool early, always bring up to slam level, allow to drift down over the few days and add polyquat 60 as per instructions One quart = 20,000 gallons Algae will not have enough time with the cooler weather in nj, ny, pa, and ct and of course further north to at least cause any damage.
Water temp is 80 leaves are starting to be an issue pool needs a slam trash keeps getting into pool here are the questions
Leaf cover or full winter cover To mix chemicals you can use a brush, a sump pump, yourself, etc Though if closing at this early date, you are likely to open to a pretty green pool in the spring. I'm thinking about buying a cover mate cover to put on the water under my mesh safety cover when closing
I'm in michigan and would like to close my pool earlier this year, probably in september I have no problem clearing my green pool when i open in may, but due to closing it earlier in. How late are you closing Imo it's only helpful for early closing folks who need more time to bridge until the water is cold
Theoretically the pq lasts longer than the slam fc if you're closing on labor day as many do here.
Hi all, proud new tfp member I am closing for the first time after using the the tfp methodology this summer, so wanted to ask a question
