I recently accepted a new position (fully remote) so my plan is in the next few months to travel around and find a place i would like to move to and figure a travel card would make the expenses a bit cheaper. I've narrowed it down to the delta skymiles platinum amex (90k intro bonus) or the capital one venture x (100k intro bonus) venture x seems like it has a lot of good things going on, but most of our friends have the delta skymiles platinum amex I’m currently looking for a travel card

Would it make sense for me to get the platinum since i’m already in the amex ecosystem?
I just got hit with the annual fee for my amex platinum and i’m contemplating whether to keep it or switch to capital one venture x I asked for a retention offer from amex but didn’t get any luck there. Depends on if you like paying really high fees and chasing after partner monthly credits or not I think the venture x is way better for most, unless you’re buying tons of airline travel, frequent centurion lounges, or are going to take advantage of several of the monthly credits that can help you earn back the annual fee.
Though venture x has decent trip delay coverage, i would use amex or chase because capital one's trip cancellation isn't up to par You will need to get the gold first and then platinum if you ever want to get the most amex points you can earn Amex points value really comes from travel partners only, terrible cash back value The capital venture x pays for its self but you only get the benefits from booking with their portal.
To me, it is just an easier card to use with the vx with not many additional benefits/credits
Amex platinum gives you access to more lounges and more hotel status perks, but for me it wouldn't be worth the high annual fee The venturex card is practically free after you add the travel credit and anniversary credit, so that's the one i would take Some people really want the best perks and are willing to pay more, so amex platinum is for. Travel credit is easy to use
