Playing dcs with mouse and keyboard is sort of similar in the sense that it is possible but to what extent is it going to be fun depends on how much of a masochist you are. But, for trying it out, it may be fine Due to the hardcore physics modelling dcs and dcs aircraft use, it's nearly impossible to play using keyboard and mouse and be any good at flying

Using a keyboard for flight controls will severely limit you ability to control the aircraft.
Especially for vr devices, a more readable text message font has been made
The settings have the ability to limit the range of the mouse cursor movement within the dcs window, as well as the change in pixel density for those vr devices that support it. Download the lastest released package, unzip it Then double click freepie.1.11.724.0.msi and vjoysetup.exe to install these two program If you've installed freepie and vjoy, you can simply download the script you want driectly from github repo.
While mastering dcs with just a keyboard and mouse (kbm) might be akin to scaling mount everest in sandals, it’s technically possible But before you strap in, let’s navigate the turbulence of this setup and see if it’s truly your flight path to success. After spending countless hours searching the internet for a solution and testing many different methods myself i have finally found a way to make dcs into a really smooth mouse and keyboard gaming experience. 1) open options, 2) select controls tab, 3) choose unit, 4) select input category, 5) assign axes, and 6) assign keys.
Even just a game controller can be a massive improvement over keyboard and mouse
