Your school taxes are divided into two installments The first installment is due by august 31 The second installment is due by february 28. The proposed budget includes a 1.75% tax levy increase, which is below the district’s tax cap of 2.57%.
This year’s 1.75% proposed tax levy increase is below our allowed limit and adds approximately $5.25 per month for a home assessed at $160,000, helping us maintain essential programs without layofs. If your school taxes are not paid by february 29, on march 1 the taxes are turned over to the city of troy/ rensselaer county for collection At that point additional penalties will be imposed. On may 20, the troy city school district board of education adopted a proposed budget of $113,651,375
With this plan, the tax levy will increase 1.99%, which is $53,357 below the allowable tax cap of 2.13%.
