Sooner or later someone would point that out to them, and a reckoning would be inevitable, for better or worse. Fern will still be a great mage regardless of the teacher (she is qualified to be first class mage in that age which shown the potential) But she may be in the unprecedented level (best human mage ever for example) if she accepts serie's offer Unfortunately for serie that fern is just as unhinged as frieren regarding seeing magic as battle.
Fern is a really great depiction of a teenage character with issues Her faults are depicted as actual road blocks in her life that create problems in her relationships and in achieving her goals The people around her know to walk on eggshells around fern which can be both quite touching and pretty sad. I also went with the digital knit option which offers a bit of padding.

The demon fern fought implied she was lying about her attack or at least was incorrect It also wouldn't surprise me if she lied to fern so that others wouldn't know about a more advanced type of magic or maybe she's preparing fern for something that she's not ready to reveal. Stark:okay.fern puts her hands on stark's cheek fern:geez.your cheeks are chilly too.you're really going to get a cold and you weren't getting closer to me. Lernen can saw a glimpse of frieren's fluctuation in mana but not serie's, whereas fern could see serie's fluctuation the moment she saw the blonde elf
